Look Before you Leap

Story:

Look Before you Leap:

Once a fox ,by an unfortunate chance,slipped and fell into a well. Fox endeavored to climb up the well but to no avail. He also tried to jump out but the wall of the well was too high to be vaulted over. He felt deeply dismayed and utterly desolate.

After some time, a goat happened to pass by the well. He was thirsty and was wandering in search of water. He peeped into the well, and to his surprise found the fox splashing  there. The fox also looked up and found a goat peering into the well.

There flashed a trick through his foxy brain. He decided to make the most of the opportunity. The goat asked him what he was doing there. Concealing his sad plight under a merry guise. The fax indulged in a lavish praise of the water of the well.He said that the water was excellent beyond measure. He encouraged him to descend and enjoy the sweet water and have a luxurious bath.

The goat was too rash and impulsive to think about the way up.  He mindful only of his thirst, thoughtlessly jumped down. The fox was waiting just for that moment. He at once bounced onto the back of the goat and vaulted out of the well. Then the goat realized his folly. He pleaded with the fox to help him out of the calamity.

The fox laughed and said:

If heaven had thrown in Double dose of good sense with that beard on you chin. you have never gone down in that frivolous way. As for me, I’ve escaped, and I’ll wish you good day. Do your best to get out. Peg away till you drop. I’ve a certain engagement that won’t let me stop.

Saying this the fox vanished form sight and the goat was left in the sad plight. The goat decided to go on bleating loudly so that his master might hear his cries and come to his rescue.

Moral;

Look before you leap.

Haste makes waste.

It is no use crying over spilt milk. `
