Staring Ms Power point 2007:The following is use to start Ms Power point:

  • Click Start
  • Select programs.
  • Select Microsoft Power point

Ms Power Point Screen/window:

Power Point Window has toolbars and panes to create presentations quickly. The main window contains three panes:

  • Slide pane contains a new blank slide to begin creating a presentation. It is the main area of the window.
  • Outline and slide tabs are to the left of the slide pane.
  • Task pane is to the right of the slide pane.

Different parts of the power point window are as follows:

Title Bar:

It displays the program and presentation name.

Menu bar:

It is another part of Ms power point. It displays items to execute commands.

Standard Toolbar:

It is also another part of Ms power point.It contains shortcut buttons for the most popular commands.

Formatting Toolbar:

It is another part of Ms power point.It contains shortcut buttons used for formatting.

Status Bar:

It is another part of Ms power point.It displays slide position and the type of design in Power point.

Drawing Toolbar:

It contains tools for drawing lines, shapes and objects.

Task Pane:

It is located on the right side of screen. It provides quick access to most common action and features in Power Point.

Outline and Slides Tabbed Pane:

It is used to easily view the presentation in outline format and a list of all the slides in the presentation with visuals.

Help:

It provides quick access to help topics.

Slide Pane:

It displays the current slide. The user performs most of the wok in slide pane including entering text, inserter ting pictures and objects etc.

Notes Pane:

It is use to add speaking notes to accompany the current slide.

View buttons:

The buttons are use to change presentation view.

Types of Views:

Power Point provides the following  views:

  1. Normal view
  2. Slide view
  3. Slide sorter view
  4. Notes page

Normal view:

The normal view is a tri-pane view. It is the default view in Power Point. All slide editing is performed in this view. It shows the slide in the center of the center of the window with a small notes pane at the bottom. It comprises slide pane, Outline and Slides tabs and task pane.

The user can work in normal view to frequently switch between text and objects on slide. It allows the user to edit text both on slide and outline view. Outline view is visible in the left- hand part of the Normal view window. It is useful for creating text only slides.

Notes view

Notes page view displays the current slide at the top of A4 portrait paper with lower part blank. It enable to type in text to accompany the slide. This text is use as memory aid for the speaker. The note pages can be printed.

Slide show view

The slide show view is used to view presentation as a slide show. The presentation is displayed as a full screen and to view the applied animations.

Slide Sorter View:

The slide Sorter view displays thumbnail versions of all slides. The slides are arranged in horizontal rows. The user can view all the slides at one time in the slide sorter view. It does not allow the user to rearrange the text or objects on individual slide. However, the user can move the slices. This view is useful to make global changes to several slides at one time, copying, moving and deleting slides sorter view.

Changing the View of a Presentation

The following procedure is use to change the view of a presentation.

  • Click View menu. A menu appears.
  • Select the desired view. OR
  • Click on the desired view button located at the bottom left side.
