How to use of Clipboard / Cut , Copy and paste

Use of Clipboard / Cut , Copy and paste:

Clipboard is used to temporarily store the information that has been cut or copied. The options of cut and copy are available in Edit menu or standard toolbar. Clipboard can store twenty four items.

Using cut and paste;

The cut feature is used to remove selected text from document. And temporarily place it on the Office clipboard. The paste feature is used to get text from the clipboard and place it in the same or another document. The cut and paste options can be used in there ways:

  • Menu Using 
  • Using Toolbar 
  • shortcut keys Using 

Cut  and Paste using Menu:

  1. Select the text.
  2. Select Edit than Cut.
  3. Move the insertion point to the new location.
  4. Select Edit than past

Cut and Paste using Toolbar: 

  1. Select the text to move.
  2. Click Cut button on Standard Toolbar.
  3. Move he insertion Pint to the new location.
  4. Click Paste button.

3. Cut and Paste using Shortcut Keys: 

  1. Select text.
  2. Press Ctrl+X 
  3. Move the insertion point to the new Location.
  4. Press Ctrl+V

Using Copy and Past:

The copy feature is use to copy selecte text from document ad temporarily place it on the clipboard. The paste feature is use to select any of the collected items on the clipboard place it in the same or another document. The copy and paste options can be use in three ways:

Copy and paste using menu 

  1. Select the text to be copy.
  2. Edit > Copy.
  3. Move the insertion point to the new location.
  4. Edit > paste

Copy and paste using Toolbar

  1. Select the text to move .
  2. Click Copy button on standard Toolbar.
  3. Move the insertion point to the new location.
  4. Click Paste button.
  5. Paste options button is used to determine the formatting of text after it is paste. check or deselect any of the following options
  • Keep source formatting:  it maintains the text formatting of original document.
  • Match Destination Formatting: It formats pasted text to match the text formatting the document in which it was paste.
  • Keep text Only:  It removes and graphic copy along with the text.

Copy using Shortcut keys

  1. Select the text to be copy.
  2. Pres Ctrl+C
  3. move the insertion point to the new location.
  4. Press Ctrl+ V.

Clipboard Task pane: 

The clipboard task pane is used to collect different items such as text and graphics etc. It collects its from Within Word or other windows applications and pastes them wherever required in document. The clipboard will display 24 items that are copy.

Copying or Cutting Multiply items:

The clipboard task pane must be displayed to copy or cut multiply items the following procedure is used to display task pane.

  • Click on Other Task panes button next to New document at the top of the task pane.
  • Click Clipboard. OR
  • Click Edit > office Clipboard. The task pane will appear.

Pasting and deleting collected items:

The following procedure is use to paste and delete item from task pane

  • Position the the insertion point where the item is to pasted.
  • Click on the item to be pasted in Clipboard task pane. The item will appear in the document
  • Click paste all to paste all items from the task pane
  • Click Clear All to delete all items from the clipboard task pane.
  • To delete a single item form the task pane, Select the item and click on down arrow and choose Delete.

Paste special:

Special feature is used to paste the text. the difference between paste and paste special is that when the text is pasted using special command there is a link between the original text and copied text. If there is and change in the original text, the copy text will also change accordingly.

The following procedure is use to apply paste special

  1. Open a new document in Ms Word.
  2. Types some text.
  3. Select the text.
  4. select Edit > Copy  OR Press CTRL+C to copy text.
  5. Select  Edit > paste special. The paste special dialog box will appear.
  6. Select Paste link and choose Microsoft word Document Object form As : Option.
  7. Click OK.
