Formatting Toolbar

Formatting Toolbar:

Formatting toolbar is locate text to standard toolbar by default. It contains button to change the appearance of text. It also contains button for font size, font style and colors etc.

The following Procedure is use to view the formatting toolbar:

Click View > Toolbar > Formatting.

Font:

The appearance of text in the document is called font or typeface. Fonts are used to make text of different styles and sizes. There are two general categories of fonts:

1.Serial

Serial font displays tiny little lines or extensions at the tops and bottoms of most characters in the font. The Times New Roman is an example of serial font.

2. Scan Serial:

This type of font does not have serifs. It adds  decorative touches to a document. This type of font is useful for headings, so they standout from body text. The Arial is an example of scan - serial font.

Changing the font:

The following procedure is use to change the font of text:

  1. Select the character you want to format.
  2. Click the arrow on Font box on Formatting toolbar. Therefor Font list display the most recently use fonts appear at the top of the list as follows:
  3. Select any font to apply. The font can apply on the selected text.

Font Size:

Font size measure in points. There are 72 points in an inch. The text set at 36 points is about one- half inch height.

Changing the Font size:

The following procedure use to change font size.

  1. Select the text to be formatted.
  2. Select font size from Font Size drop down box on the formatting Toolbar.  OR
  3. Type a new font size then pres Enter.
  4. The font size of the selected text will be changed. OR
  • Use the following Keyboard shortcuts to change the font size.
  • Ctrl+]           OR          Ctrl + Shift+>
  • Ctrl+[           OR          Ctrl + Shift+<

Font Style 

Font style use for bold, italicize and underline the text. Formatting toolbar contains separate button for all of these options.

Change the Font Styles  

The following procedure use to change font style:

  1. Select the text to be formatted.
  2. Choose one or more o the following options.
  • Click the Bold button on the Formatting toolbar.  OR   Ctrl + B
  • Click the Italic button on the Formatting toolbar.  OR   Ctrl + I
  • Click the Undrline button on the Formatting toolbar.  OR   Ctrl + U
